Several areas of the chest’s veneer were damaged, with pieces missing from both the lid and base. A significant section of decorative trim on the left side was also absent. The surface exhibited heavy scratches and a prominent ring-shaped water stain on the lid, which were addressed during the refinishing process.

Stripping veneer requires precision to remove old coatings without damaging the delicate surface beneath. Heritage’s team carefully stripped and sanded the chest, preparing it for restoration. The missing trim was replicated by copying the profile of the existing piece, then accurately shaped and attached to maintain authenticity.

Following the repairs, multiple layers of stain and sealant were applied to restore the chest’s color and finish. Damaged veneer areas were skillfully blended to match the original surfaces. After curing, the restored chest was shipped to the client in the Southwest, completing the project.
