Recreating A Two-Toned Design For A Pair Of Antique Conference Tables
Two mid-sized wooden conference tables were brought in for professional refinishing to address surface gouges and scuff marks. Each tabletop featured custom inlaid patterns that required careful preservation. During the restoration process, these intricate designs were meticulously recreated by hand to ensure the tables maintained their original character and craftsmanship.

Over time, the conference tables had become heavily scratched and pockmarked, with some damage extending into the wood beneath the high-gloss finish. The most significant wear was on the legs, where decorative leaf carvings had not only faded but also sustained breakage. Though structurally sound, the tables required substantial refinishing to restore their original appearance.
The process began with carefully stripping the old finish using chemical agents, revealing the raw wood beneath. Surface blemishes were filled, and broken leg carvings were meticulously recreated by hand and machine to match the original designs. Once repairs were complete, the tables were stained in a two-tone finish to replicate the original inlay work, then sealed with a glossy protective coating. The decorative leaves on the legs were gilded using a gold dust solution for a refined finish.
After a few days of curing, the restored tables were returned to service, now revitalized in both appearance and durability. Heritage Restoration is proud to have extended the life and beauty of these classic pieces.
