Cleaning A Church's Wooden Board Ceiling

Heritage Restoration revitalized the wood board ceiling of a local Baptist church by trimming protruding fasteners, applying a hydrating wood treatment, and using a custom-tinted glazure to reduce stain visibility. The refreshed space is now fully restored and ready for worship services.

In Detail

Heritage Restoration and Design Studio recently completed a ceiling restoration project at a local Baptist church, breathing new life into the worship space. Following an initial assessment, the Heritage team carefully calculated the dimensions of the church’s interior—including ceiling height, width, length, and angle—to provide an accurate and comprehensive restoration plan.

The scope of work focused on restoring the church’s wood board ceiling and Glulam beams, both of which had aged over time. Restoration began with the trimming of protruding shingle fasteners extending more than ½ inch, ensuring a smoother and safer surface. A clear, hydrating wood-restoring compound was then applied to both the ceiling planks and the structural beams, enhancing the natural grain and appearance of the wood while also preserving its integrity for years to come.

To address several small stained areas on the ceiling, Heritage used a specially tinted glazure coating. This color-matched treatment was designed to blend with the surrounding wood. The result is a more uniform and aesthetically pleasing finish that respects the original character of the space.

With the restoration complete, the church is once again ready to welcome its congregation. The refreshed interior not only improves the overall visual appeal but also reflects the care and dedication of a community invested in preserving its place of worship.
