A Wooden Processional Cross Remade From An Old Design
With the appropriate tools and materials, accurately recreating lost artifacts is achievable. In this instance, a wooden processional cross was meticulously crafted using detailed designs derived from historical photographs.

Photographs of the original cross were used to create an accurate template for its reconstruction. Our woodshop cut and assembled the components, with the shaft crafted to the correct height and the horizontal and vertical beams shaped with expanded tips and beveled edges.
The cross featured two shield emblems bearing the IHS and Omega Cross symbols, which were digitally traced from the photos and carved using a machine for precision. These emblems were then attached to the beams.
The most intricate part was shaping the rounded connection between the cross head and shaft, achieved by turning wood on a lathe and carefully carving the profile.
All pieces were stained with a rich brown finish and coated with satin glaze, then allowed to cure for durability. Finally, the components were assembled, connections secured, and the completed processional cross delivered to its owner.
