Proper lighting in a church is critical. The altar area needs
to be lit in such a manner to be conducive to liturgy. The
main body of the church needs to be lit so as to make it easy
to read with no shadows. Ancillary areas such as the narthex,
loft, or sacristies need proper lighting suitable for the purpose
of each area. Energy saving lamps can be considered as part
of the overall lighting scheme.
